He was born in Gorinchem, Netherlands, and his origin is from Galipsos village, near Kavala. The son of Argyris Arvanitidis and Morfoula, at the age of six, Vertis and his family moved to Thessaloniki, Greece, and at seven, he started playing the bouzouki.
